The Sabbath and the Day After

The seventh day is the Sabbath unto the LORD. It is the day He set apart for complete rest and holiness. His word is clear: abide in your place, do no work, turn away from your own pleasure, and keep the day holy unto Him.

See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.

Exodus 16:29 · KJV

On this day we remain still before the Lord. It is not a day for travel, commerce, or self-directed gathering. It is a day to stay in place in holiness unto the LORD.

Beside the Sabbaths of the LORD stand the feasts of the LORD. Among these appointed times, God specifically chose “the morrow after the sabbath” for the wave sheaf of the firstfruits and for the Feast of Weeks. That same day after the Sabbath is the day Yahusha rose from the dead as the firstfruits of them that slept.

And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days.

Therefore the distinction remains

The day after the Sabbath is a lawful day for the assemblies and feast convocations that God Himself appointed. It is the day He marked for the offering of the firstfruits and for the counting that leads to Pentecost. It is the day of the resurrection.

The Sabbath unto the LORD — a day to stay in place, and rest completely, keeping holiness before Him. The day after the Sabbath — a lawful day for the feast assemblies God ordained and for worship in light of the risen Messiah.

One does not replace the other. The Sabbath remains the Sabbath. The day after remains the day God chose for certain holy convocations and the day of resurrection power. Keep both according to their place in His word.
